Why Pay Later matters for tour operators

Plenty of trips are too big for a card transaction or sold to corporate clients who want to wire money. Without a Pay Later workflow, operators handle these via off-system emails and lose the audit trail. With it, the booking is recorded in Yatra with a clear Pending status until you mark it paid.

How to set up Pay Later in Yatra

No engineering. Open Yatra → Modules, toggle, follow the wizard.

    Enable

    Settings → Payment → Pay Later → toggle on.

    Configure customer message

    Bank details, account number, IBAN, payment reference instructions.

  3. 3

    Set auto-cancel window

    Most operators use 7–14 days. Beyond that, capacity returns to inventory.

    Mark paid when money arrives

    Open the booking → Mark Completed. Customer gets confirmation.

Does Pay Later hold the capacity while unpaid?
Yes — until the auto-cancel timer fires. After that capacity returns to inventory. This prevents an unpaid Pending booking blocking another customer's actual purchase forever.
Can I attach an invoice PDF for the bank transfer?
Yes — Yatra's invoice PDF is auto-generated and linked from the Pending confirmation email.
