Dynamic Pricing — illustration

Why this matters

A fixed price is a wrong price ~80% of the time. Your shoulder season is over-priced, your peak weeks are under-priced, your early-bird discounts aren't aggressive enough, and your last-minute seats clear at full price instead of recovering 70% revenue. Dedicated pricing-engine SaaS (PriceLabs-style) charges $19–$59/month for this. Yatra Pro bundles it in every plan.

What changes once Dynamic Pricing is on

Concrete operational outcomes — not feature checkboxes.

  • Capture peak-week premium automatically — no manual price edits.
  • Clear last-minute seats at 70%+ recovery instead of going empty.
  • Convert early-deciders with auto early-bird discounts that taper toward the date.
  • Stack rules safely — priority + cap prevent overlapping rules from going negative.
  • Audit log on every applied adjustment so finance can trace exactly why a booking was priced X.

What you get

Every surface, every toggle, every audit trail — covered.

Six rule types

Date range, weekday, season, advance-booking window (early-bird / last-minute), inventory threshold, group size. Mix and match per trip.

Percentage or fixed

Each rule can adjust by % or absolute amount. Caps prevent runaway discounts.

Priority + stacking

Rules apply in priority order; you choose whether subsequent rules stack on top of prior adjustments or replace them.

Per-trip override

Global rules apply across the catalogue; opt a trip out, or define trip-specific rules that override the global set.

Audit log

Every applied rule on every booking is recorded with the price-before / price-after. Disputes resolve in seconds.

Dashboard reports

See which rules fired most often, total revenue lift attributed to dynamic pricing, biggest single-rule wins.

How you turn it on

No engineering. Open Yatra → Modules, toggle, follow the wizard.

  1. 1

    Enable the module

Open Yatra → Modules → Dynamic Pricing → toggle on. A new menu entry appears.

  2. 2

    Pick a rule type

Start with one — most operators try Last-Minute Discount first (highest immediate ROI). Pick date range + adjustment + trips it applies to.

  3. 3

    Test the price

Open a trip's frontend page on a date inside the rule's window. The displayed price reflects the adjustment with an explanation badge.

  4. 4

    Layer more rules

Add Early-Bird, Season, Inventory rules. Yatra resolves priority and caps automatically. The audit log records what fired.

Dynamic Pricing pays for itself on the first peak week.

Questions before you upgrade

Does Yatra round adjusted prices to "look good" (e.g. $399 → $399 not $401.27)?
Yes — there's a round-to-nearest setting per rule (nearest $1, $5, $10) so dynamic adjustments don't produce ugly fractional prices on the booking page.
Can a customer ever pay more than the displayed price because of stacking?
No. A rule-priority cap and an absolute floor/ceiling per trip prevent that. The displayed price IS the price at checkout.
Will it interfere with promo codes / Advanced Discount?
Promo codes apply on top of the dynamic-priced amount; the Advanced Discount module composes cleanly with this one. The audit log shows the full price-stack so refunds and disputes resolve fast.
Does this work with the per-traveler-category pricing (Adult / Child / Infant)?
Yes — adjustments apply per category. You can set a rule that only adjusts Adult prices, or that applies a flat 10% across all categories.
